Well, there's some bad news. It looks like The Diurnal, the digital newspaper exclusive to the Motorola Xoom tablet, is shutting down at the end of this month.

Tribune Co. chairman Sam Zell announced the news earlier today at a stockholder meeting.

"I guess you could say it was a lofty experiment," he reflected wistfully.

Analysts say the app may have cost the company upwards of $100 million. Nevertheless, Zell told shareholders the company is hard at work developing a new publication exclusive to the Microsoft Surface.
